The real meaning of Easter, is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To Christians, it is the most special day of the year.
Easter also also is celebrated with the Easter Bunny, colored eggs, jelly beans, and lots of chocolate. He (or she, as we are never quite sure about this) comes on Saturday night leading to Easter Sunday morning. He brings lots of chocolates and other candies. That's one meaning to Easter, especially if you are a kid or a "Chocolaholic".

There is a famous Easter game called the Easter Egg Hunt. Early morning kids go outside to find the many colored Easter eggs that the Easter bunny has hidden the night before. The Easter Egg Hunt was the first game ever invented. It is said that the reason this tradition started was because of the Easter Bunny dropped the eggs on the way to deliver them and they hide themselves.

Most of us will celebrate both parts of this spring holiday. Upon awakening Easter Sunday morning, the children will hunt for the Easter basket left by the Easter Bunny. Then the family will dress in their finest new spring clothes, and go off to church to celebrate Christ's resurrection. From there, the holiday tradition varies. Some have a big breakfast of brunch feast. Other family will have a big main meal with baked ham being the most common meat. Brightly colored hard boiled eggs will also be popular. It is not a day for high cholesterol diets. It is a day to feast as the long lenten season is over and Christ has arisen.

Traditionally, April Fool's Day is an opportunity for playing jokes or tricks on one another. The stranger and the more absurd the better. The challenge is to carry out a trick that is believable, if only for a little while.

We have been celebrating Shrove in our Gymnasium this week! On Friday were two events: Skipping and Pancake Race.
The bell-ringer gave the prizes to the winner, the team "T-shirts" (7c)-28 points!
The second place- "Scarves" (7a)-26 points;
the third place 6b-25 point;
the fourth place "Caps"-25 points;
the fifth place "Aprons"(6a)-24 points;
the sixth place "White scarves" (5a)-20 points;
The points were given for the speed, accurate tossing the pancake, costumes, spectators` support. The teams also lost some points for breaking the Pancake Race Rules.

Scots around the world are celebrating the 250th anniversary of the birth of national bard Robert Burns .
Millions who claim Scots ancestry will enjoy a traditional Burns supper of haggis - sheep's heart and lungs chopped up with spices and oatmeal and stuffed into a sheep's stomach - plus "neeps" (turnips) and "tatties" (potatoes).
In the small town where Burns was born and across Scotland, thousands of people are expected to join celebrations including a lantern procession and church service at Glasgow cathedral.
Burns suppers are also taking place in many countries.
Robert Burns, a poor man, an educated man, and a ladies’ man, is representative of Scotland, much like whisky, haggis, bagpipes, and kilts. In medieval Europe, the custom of groups of masked and disguised figures processing through the streets and entering people's houses. During the winter festivals, they went from house to house and presented gifts after playing dice in silence.
The custom probably derives from Celto-Teutonic or Graeco-Roman ceremonies. By the 14th century it was a sophisticated entertainment, in which the exchange of gifts was complemented by dancing. In the 15th century mumming became increasingly elaborate throughout Europe.

Prom
The end of the last year of high school there is a special huge party called a Prom.
It`s the last party before university and it takes place after you`ve passed all your exams.
During the year, an elected committee meets up to discuss the theme, the place, the music and the DJs.
There is also all the excitement of who you`ll go to the Prom with. It may be your boyfriend or girlfriend or just a close friend.
After choosing a date, the real fun begins. Girls plan what they are going to wear months before and can spend hundreds of dollars on their dresses and shoes. Guys usually buy or rent a tuxedo.
On prom day girls usually get up early and get their hair and nails done. Many girls get together at someone`s house and spend most of the day preparing together-dressing, doing make-up, etc. Guys, on the other hand, hang together for a while, then get ready at the last moment.
Some students, especially crushes, go out to dinner before the prom and arrive at the party fashionably late.
Lots of people also take pictures on this special day. After all, it`s the end of school life and the beginning of adulthood.

Remembrance Day

World War l ended in 1918, after four years of fighting in which 8,500,000 soldiers died. The fighting in France and Belgium stopped at 11:00 on 11 November 1918-the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
Remembrance Day is held in the UK on 11 November to honor those who died for their country in WW l and other wars. At 11:00 there is a two-minute silence at schools and factories across the country. On the nearest Sunday there are special church services, and the Royal family and political leaders put wreaths of poppies on the Cenotaph in London/.
11November is also known as Poppy Day, and it is traditional for people to wear a paper poppy. Why a poppy?
